Wassim El Hajj

Wassim El Hajj is the founding Rector of the American University of Beirut – Mediterraneo (AUB Mediterraneo), the first-ever twin campus of the American University of Beirut (AUB) outside Lebanon. He received his Ph.D. in Computer Science in 2006 from Western Michigan University, and joined AUB in 2010. At AUB, he served as department chairperson, associate dean, director of FAS eLearning, and was promoted to tenured full professor in 2021. His research interests are in the areas of Machine Learning and Networking. He received more than $3M in research grants, has two US patents, and published many articles in reputable venues.
